South African mining giant Kumba Resources haas announced that it plans to export iron ore through the planned new port of Ngqura at the Coega Industrial Development Zone. The company hopes to increase production in the Northern Cape because of rising global demand and prices.
Existing facilities at the Atlantic port of Saldanha Bay are already close to saturation and Coega is better placed than Saldanha for export to East Asia, so Kumba is eager to develop iron ore handling facilities at the new Eastern Cape port....
