Spain-based materials handling engineering and technology group TAIM-TFG recently completed the takeover of Weser Engineering GmbH, the German subsidiary of the Spanish naval construction group Izar. According to TAIM-TFG, the deal will allow it to increase its turnover by 20%, increase its presence in Central Europe and adds further to its technological capacity and know-how.
Izar was put into liquidation in June 2005 and the Spanish shipbuilding industry has been undergoing a difficult reconstruction, with Izar’s military and civil yards being separated and further state aid being capped. The deal to acquire Weser was approved in May by SEPI, the Spanish holding company for state shares in companies and by CCP, the Consultative Council for Privatisation....
