Indian company Tata Steel has commissioned its first greenfield project outside India, with the construction of a new ferrochrome plant close to the South African port of Richards Bay.
On 3 April, the plant’s first furnace was switched on at Alton North, an industrial area close to Richards Bay. Production capacity from phase 1 will be 134,500 tpa but work on phase 2 is expected to begin in June with the completion of the briquetting plant....
