New Zealand-based cargo handling and engineering firm Page Macrae has introduced a new remote release grab design. In the first commerical operation for the new design, four 10m3 grabs were ordered by P&O General Stevedoring for its Hamilton Wharves terminal in Brisbane.
Bulk business at Brisbane is growing fast with tonnages often exceeding 200,000t per month. More than 80% of the business comprises soda ash and clinker for cement manufacture. P&O has reported productivity gains of ≥50% and has placed an order for a fifth grab....
