Puerto Angamos, the consortium of Ultramar, Inversiones Norte Grande and Constructora Belfi that oversees handling activities in the Mejillones Bay area (Region II) is implementing a new US$80M dry bulk installation, Terminal Graneles del Norte (TGN).
Due for completion in 2011, it will mainly provide coal imports for the new 450 MW generator that is being built at the Angamos de Gener power station. This is needed to provide more power for BHP Billiton’s Escondida and Spence copper mines where output is being ramped up....
