It has been reported in South Africa that Kumba Iron Ore is again in talks with Transnet over the creation of a public private partnership (PPP) to manage the transport of dry bulk exports in South Africa.
Transnet Freight Rail, then Spoornet, suggested in 2006 that it would be willing to consider the creation of a PPP to increase coal and iron ore transport capacity. Kumba, an offshoot of mining giant Anglo American and the world’s fourth biggest iron ore supplier, is believed to have originally approached Transnet early last year to discuss investment in the mining sector....
