The central African state of Congo-Brazzaville looks set to join the ranks of Africa’s iron ore producers. DMC Mining of Australia has increased its estimate of the reserves at its Mayoko concession in Niari Department in the southwest of the country to 1 bt.
The company’s executive director, David Sumich, said: “These results overtake any previous projections ...we will continue to push the project forward as fast as possible. With the new 1 bt of reserves, the life of the mine increases from five to more than 100 years....
