Keeping the dust down

European legislation requires the implementation of dust control measures to achieve specified minimum levels of dust pollution during all bulk cargo transhipment operations.

Similar regulations are also being applied, to a greater or lesser degree, in virtually all other ports and marine terminals throughout the world. In response to these increasingly stringent environmental codes, Geldof Metaal-constructie of Belgium has in recent months introduced a range of grab receival hoppers with capacities from to 50 to 150m3. These incorporate a series of fans which serve to maintain a constant negative pressure inside the hopper. Dust is collected on moisture-proof filters, which are cleaned automatically by compressed air....
