Political analysts in Argentina say the Paraguay-Parana waterway (Hidrovia) will receive a major boost as a result of a high level agreement between Brazil and the Andean Development Corporation (CAF).
Brazil has traditionally used fiscal and other measures to route exports from the Brazilian interior through its own Atlantic ports, but under the new deal the natural water-based route out at the Plate Estuary will be promoted. Using the cheaper but slower water route should make Brazilian bulk exports more competitive....
