Operators in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) are also feeling the effects of electrical power shortages that have curtailed alumina imports and import/export of other commodities.
Two of Canada's largest grain companies, United Grain Growers and Agricore, are merging to form Agricore United. To meet competition rules, the new entity has to sell or otherwise dispose of one of its export terminals in the Port of Vancouver, BC as well as several storage elevators on the prairies.
