The port of Ghent is well into its ambitious €136 mill Kluizendok project. Ghent Port Co (GPC) is responsible for 40 per cent of the financing and the Flemish regional government for 60 per cent, including the whole of the dredging works.
In all, 4.2 km of quay wall will be built with a depth of water alongside of 13.5m. The construction of the quay walls started in 1996. The third and final phase, the southern quay wall, started this year and is scheduled for completion by 2006....
