High capacity shiploaders for iron ore and coal are relatively simple, although large structures, and can be viewed essentially as an extension of the main conveyor system, which drops the cargo into the ship’s hold.
For loading more specialised dusty cargoes, however, a more detailed approach must be taken to avoid dust generation. While coal and iron ore loading also generates dust, the higher density of these commodities means that the dust does not travel as far and is normally confined to the ship’s hold....
