Aumund RDM for BlueScope Steel

Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH has supplied a new rotary discharge machine (RDM) to BlueScope Steel in Wollongong, New South Wales.

The RDM will be used to automatically reclaim the coke from underneath a stockpile for further transport.

BlueScope Steel, the leading steel producer in Australia, operates a coke oven battery, which today produces coke not only for its own consumption, but also for the wider market.

As an intermediate storage measure, the coke is piled on large stockpiles (total storage capacity of 90,000t), with 50,000t built up on top of a discharging gullet.

The new Aumund RDM travels inside a tunnel, under which a discharge wheel reclaims the bulk material from one side of the gullet bottom. The RDM, which reduces potential dust emissions, has now been commissioned.
