Cashing in the chips

Wood chips produced in Eastern Canada are increasingly being shipped out of facilities on the coast, such as North Atlantic Marine Terminals' operation at Sheet Harbour, Nova Scotia.

Chipping plants in the region are fed by truck and rail with spruce logs. There is strong domesitc demand for chips from local pulp and paper producers, but many tonnes are stockpiled and exported.
