China’s ore imports tipped to grow 13%

China’s demand for imported iron ore is likely to be softer this year than foreign analysts expect, according to Luo Bingsheng, secretary-general of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA).

“The estimate of 400 mt by overseas institutions is obviously too high,” said Luo, who expects imports to rise 13% to 367 mt. This figure is higher than CISA’s earlier forecast of 355 mt.
