Bulk handling has spawned a wide range of different ship-unloader types, but crane designs are far from reaching their peak.

ArcelorMittal surprised many observers when it placed orders worth €13.3M with two engineering companies for two grab unloaders for its Ghent steel plant. The steelmaker contracted Italian group Danieli to supply a 50t capacity unloader, rated at 2,000 tph when handling both coking coal and iron ore, while a separate contract was signed with Turkish group IŞIK Engineering for the supply of a barge unloader
