When it comes to equipment selection the challenge is to achieve a balance between capital expenditure, operational performance, maintenance and running costs. A mismatch between the equipment’s design specification and the equipment’s actual operating profile - for example seeking to achieve utilisation levels of 95 per cent against a designed utilisation level of 80 per cent - will inevitably reduce the efficacy of the equipment. The corollary can be a major upswing in the level of dust emissions.
