As reported in the January/ February 2002 issue of Bulk Materials International (p14), FAM received a turnkey contract from Holcim last year for a complete new mining system for Holly Hill, 60 km north west of Charleston. The new system will excavate a circular area of about 900m to an average depth of 18.3m. The German company is responsible for design, manufacturing, on-site erection and commissioning, which is due to be completed shortly.
