A combination of derailments, bad weather and a lack of capacity on the Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) rail network had seriously curtailed shipments in both 2008 and 2009, but it had widely been hoped that Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) would now be able to make use of its expanded handling capacity.
