Three new ports for Colombia?

Colombia's port and transport regulator has announced that three new Atlantic coal ports are in the planning stage, but the go-ahead will only be given once certain environmental problems have been overcome. All are in Magdalena province - at Santa Marta, Bahía Concha and Cienaga.

According to Santiago Acosta, speaking on behalf of the regulator, these are megaprojects that have a number of problems but as the projects' backers solve them they will receive government approval, as long as environmental conditions are complied with.
