NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers, an NYK Group company, has recently concluded an agreement with Kambara Kisen for the time charter of a methanol dual-fuel bulk carrier.

A 65,700 dwt vessel is currently under construction at the Japanese Tsuneishi Shipbuilding and is scheduled for delivery in spring 2025. The ship will be the first methanol-fueled bulk carrier operated by the NYK Group.

The vessel has a dual-fuel main engine that uses methanol and fuel oil. The primary fuels are expected to be bio-methanol and e-methanol, produced using hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources and recovered carbon dioxide.

The ship has a length overall (LOA) of 200 meters, a breadth of 32.25 meters, a depth of 19.15 meters, a draft of 13.8 meters, and a capacity of 81,500 cubic meters.

Boasting the largest loading capacity of an Ultramax bulker, the vessel will have a general-purpose hull that can transport various cargoes, including grain and ore.
