Bulkmatic, which one of the largest dry bulk transporters in North America, said the acquisition would create additional capacity and improved service for customers in the Central Illinois and Indianapolis markets.

It added that customers of Paris Transport would have continuity of management because the Paris management team would be staying on to run the new Bulkmatic operations.

“Shippers in the region will have access to additional capacity through the larger Bulkmatic terminal network, said Doug Smittkamp, vice president of Paris Transport.

“The two organisations have a similar customer focus and our networks match-up very well. We believe this combination will improve service to Paris Transport Inc’s long-standing customers by tapping into Bulkmatic’s regional capacity.”

Paris Transport has a long history of operating in the Central Illinois and Indiana markets, which Bulkmatic believes will allow it to efficiently expand operations in the region.

“Bulkmatic has always thought very highly of Paris Transport Inc,” said Jeff Bingham, vice president of sales at Bulkmatic. “This is a great opportunity for us to leverage the benefits of market density to improve service to new and existing regional customers.”
