Sibanthracite Overseas is part of Russia’s VostokCoal, which manages the huge Taimyr coal basin, home of one of the world’s largest anthracite coal deposits, on the Taimyr Peninsula. The coal will be shipped from the Port of Dikson, on the Kara Sea.

The contract comes in to force at the start of 2019. According to MMP, a significant portion of its fleet will be engaged with the contract. Shipments are to be made all-year round and will therefore acquire the assistance of icebreakers.

MMP is the biggest Russian-flag shipping company operating in the Russian sector of the Arctic Ocean.
