The Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) has announced its first speakers for BULKEX 2019, which takes place on 16-17 October.
Mike Brinkley, head of strategy for supply chain operations at Network Rail, will be joined with Davey Wharrior, mechanical engineer at Lynemouth Power Station, and Gary Sinclair, general manager for manufacturing and engineering industries at Compass Minerals.
Located in the Northumberland coast, Lynemouth Power Station employs 135 people. It has a stated goal of generating safe and sustainable energy, with plans to convert the power station from coal-fired generation to biomass, which will enable the plant to supply the National Grid with up to 390 MW of low-carbon electricity.
Compass Minerals is the largest rock salt provider in the UK, mining and operating out of Winsford in Cheshire. By mining more than 150m below the surface, Compass is able to extract rock salt, crush it to suitable sizes for use, add certain products, and elevate it to the surface, where it keeps a healthy emergency stockpile of around 0.5 Mt, whilst distributing it all around the UK to be used in winter for the safety of the population.
Other confirmed contributors, with the named speakers still to be announced include Immingham Bulk Terminal, Atex Explosions, Thames Tideway and The Wolfson Centre.
“This stellar programme is not to be missed so do register to come as soon as possible,” said the MHEA.
