The machine was ordered from Mogensen on the recommendation of the Lafarge Technical Centre in Vienna. It replaces a locally made conveyor, which had been suffering from extensive cracking problems.
The new conveyor is used to move 72 tph of cement clinker at 300DegC, with surges up to 350DegC, a distance of 6.37 metres from the outlet of a wet kiln installation to a bucket conveyor system. This transports the clinker to a stock-pile area where it awaits conversion into useable cement.
The Mogensen conveyor is lined with stainless steel to guard against abrasion, and is specially constructed to protect the vibrators from heat damage.
The conveyor, type TR1 800/6370 L-426, is 800mm wide and is driven by two Invicta rotary electric vibrators, Type BLz 45-42/6 (mechanical output 41200 Newtons), which provide a linear mode of vibration.
The new machine has some reserve capacity as it is rated at 92 tph when conveying material as dense as cement clinker.
