Already, DB Cargo has leased enough containers to haul complete trainloads of metal scrap for the steel industry. The complete train has a length of 534m and can carry a total load of 22,730t.

The 40ft ScrapTainer is an open-top container that, together with the 80ft InnoWaggon, has a tare weight of 43.5t and a payload of 136.5t.

The ScrapTainer is loaded and discharged by crane, and can be taken off the wagon for maintenance or for storage purposes. Thus the equipment can be universally be used for different options.
