Tasmania barge plan snubbed

Having seen woodchip exports slump, due to reduced global demand, and export facilities close when the state’s largest producer collapsed, Tasmania is now studying port options in the island’s south for a resumption of trade.

Cement Australia, jointly owned by Hanson and Holcim, will expand its bulk storage and loading facilities at the Tasmanian port of Devonport in a three-year, Aus$30M programme.
