Chips are up at Tiwi

Woodchips exports have begun from the Tiwi Islands, located in the Torres Strait between northern Australia and Papua New Guinea. In late November, Japanese-owned DAIO PAPYRUS loaded 40,000t at the new Port Melville, destined for Japan. The Acacia plantation chips are being purchased by Mitsui Corporation under a five-year agreement.
