Ørjan Svanevik has assumed the position of interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Western Bulk Chartering AS, a major dry bulk shipping operator.

The appointment follows the departure of Hans Aasnæs, as reported in a stock exchange notice on 15 February 2024. Svanevik, a seasoned member of the Board of Directors since August 2023, steps into the leadership role effective immediately.

While continuing his duties as a Board member, Svanevik’s appointment is expected to provide continuity and leadership during this transitional period, the company said.

Meanwhile, the company’s board has initiated the process for selecting the permanent CEO.

Oslo-listed Western Bulk Chartering AS is privately owned by Kistefos Group (68,7 %), Sayonara AS (former Ojada AS) (8,3 %) and a group of about 1200 other shareholders.
