Germany’s last hard coal mine gets shafted
NewsGermany’s last remaining hard coal mine is set to close next week, as state subsidies come to an end.
Wedged between Wilhelmshaven, Germany’s leading oil terminal, and Bremerhaven on the other side of the Weser, lies a peninsula with two important bulk ports Nordenham and Brake. As the hinterland transport infrastructure of these ports leaves much to be desired, there is increasing pressure to improve the situation.
