Tete line contract awarded

The government of Mozambique has awarded the US$3B contract to develop the country’s new coal export railway to Italian-Thai Development PCL following a competitive tender. The firm will be required to construct a 525 km line from the coal producing province of Tete to the coastal town of Macuse, close to Quelimane in Zambezia Province, where a new port is to be developed with coal handling capacity of 25 Mtpa.
