Glencore’s Katanga pays for historical failings
NewsKatanga Mining, majority owned by Glencore, has admitted failings related to historical disclosures, as it reached a settlement with the Ontario Securities Commission.
Glencore has signed an agreement with the government of Mauritania to access rail and port infrastructure, access which was previously restricted to state owned Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM). Glencore and SNIM are jointly developing two iron ore mining projects, Guleb El Aouj and Lebtheinia, in the north of the country, while Glencore is funding the development of the Askaf mine independently.
