Maputo/ Richards Bay coal rail deal

Mozambique, Swaziland and South Africa have signed an agreement enabling the transport of coal between Maputo and South Africa’s Richards Bay, allowing the two ports to cooperate on exports. A joint rail operating centre is to be set up in Maputo, in a sign that Transnet is prepared to make use of the Mozambican port, rather than solely relying on the privately owned Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT).
