Ore demand grows but slows

China is expected to import about 300 mt of iron ore in 2006, up 13 per cent over the estimated 265 mt imported in 2005, the Ministry of Commerce has calculated adding that the 35 mt increase will, however, be less than the estimated 56 mt jump in 2005. It had earlier estimated that imports in 2005 would total 240 mt.
