New African manganese producer

A project described as the biggest manganese mine in the world is planned in landlocked Burkina Faso. The Tambao scheme close to the border with both Mali and Niger is being developed by Pan African Minerals, which is mainly owned by Timis, a Romanian company that, in turn, is owned by Romanian billionaire Frank Timis. The deposit is believed to contain more than 100 Mt of manganese and production of 3 Mtpa is anticipated. The government sanctioned the project development in May.
