…but RBCT sets record

India has cemented its position as by far the biggest destination for South Africa coal, taking 30.45 Mt in 2014, followed by the Netherlands (9.69 Mt), Turkey (3.58 Mt) and Pakistan (3.37 Mt). Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) shipped coal to a number of countries for the first time last year, including Ukraine, but exports to China fell to 3.17 Mt, as cheaper Australian coal priced South African exports out of the market. In addition, Beijing has placed new restrictions on coal imports.
