In a further sign of weakening interest in the Mozambique mining sector, Anglo American has announced that it is pulling out of coal development in Mozambique. It has closed its office in Maputo, just two years after pulling out of a deal to buy a 58.9% stake in the Revuboè coal project in Tete Province from Talbot Group Investments for US$380M.
