Grain harvest boosts St. Lawrence Seaway

The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation has appointed Demetrios (Jim) Athanasiou as President and CEO, succeeding Terence F. Bowles.

St. Lawrence Seaway shipping started to rebound in August due to increasing volumes of Canadian prairie and American grain began flowing through the navigation channel for export overseas.

Canadian grain shipments through the St. Lawrence Seaway reached 685,000t in September, a 27% increase compared to the same month last year.
