Russian grain exports through Mariupol raise concerns amidst controversy

In the past few years, the rapid growth of container traffic in the Eastern Baltic, largely explained by Russia’s consumer goods import boom, has attracted considerable investment in port facilities. At the same time, however, that boom is largely fuelled by higher prices for commodities such as coal, metals, chemicals and fertilisers and major investments have been made in bulk facilities to cater for rising exports.
