Amsterdam well positioned to handle more imports

The Port of Amsterdam reports that it saw continued strong performance during 2008, with coal volumes reaching 17.3 mt, a slight increase from the 17.2 mt handled the previous year. While this could be viewed as a minor growth, it is good news for the port at a time when others in the Hamburg-Le Havre range are reporting a fall in volume throughput due to the recession.
