NewsBrazil’s abundance of grain offers hope in an otherwise depressed dry bulk shipping sector, but poor transport infrastructure means exporting to world markets is not always cost-effective.
The project to build the Maranhão Grain Terminal (Tegram) in the Brazilian port of Itaquí, which had been postponed for five years, could be implemented by 2013. A bill has been sent to the National Waterway Transport Agency (Antaq) by the planning director of Maranhão port company (EMAP).
