Oz Reef battle continues

Australian conservationists are claiming a victory after major builder/developer Lend Lease withdrew from a joint venture with rail company Aurizon to build one of the new Abbot Point coal terminals in Queensland. Lend Lease said only that its decision followed an “internal review”. But environmentalists said the firm was influenced by a campaign by 36 organisations against any expansion of coal shipments through the waters of the Great Barrier Reef (GBR).
