Tilbury port deal

The Port of Tilbury has welcomed a unique floating bulk terminal to its new base on the Thames. Eureka Shipping, part of SMT Shipping and the CSL Group, has based its multipurpose floating bulk terminal vesper at the Port of Tilbury under a four-year agreement with London Container Terminal and fly ash importer Cemineral.

The Port of Tilbury and shipper URM UK recently loaded the first train of bulk glass cullet processed from a new recycling facility at the port. A total of 1,200t of raw glass cullet left Tilbury en route for Cheshire by train, representing the first shipment under a long-term supply agreement. The cullet is produced from glass across the south of England, predominately from kerbside collections, as well as bottle banks. It is processed in URM’s modern recycling hub at the port.

The Queensland sugar export port of Bundaberg has a new import commodity, with the commencement of gypsum shipments to supply a new A$70M Knauf Australia plasterboard manufacturing plant.

Pacific Bulk Terminal (PBT), an operator at the Free Port of Vladivostok (FPV), has started construction of a state-of-the-art terminal at the Pacific harbour of Slavyanka, located 200 km by road and 50 km by sea south of Vladivostok.

Italian-headquartered coal trader Coeclerici Group is considering acquiring a Russian port asset, according to Urbano Clerici, deputy chairman and CEO of its trading division.

The New South Wales port of Newcastle has reported that a surge in coal and wheat exports has underpinned a new trade record, handling just under 168 Mt in 2016 (trade value: A$18.69B), an increase of 3.8 Mt on the previous year.
